So, I crawled out of bed at 5am this morning (simply could not sleep any longer), took a shower, and slipped into my Ritz robe. This is living… even if we do not have most of our clothes.
We came down to the lobby to check email and the such. Chinese internet is a giant pain in the rear. All kinds of sites are blocked. No twitter, no google docs or google blogger, I am not sure Skype works, my connection is very spotty.
We then went into the restaurant for breakfast. WOW! What an interesting set-up. There was French toast, waffles, pancakes, bacon, sausage, omelets, fruit, danishes… normal stuff for us Americans. But there was also a ton of breakfast foods that you just don't normally see in the States--
3 different types of Dim Sum, really thin Chinese pancakes with carrots and scallions (delicious), fried rice with spicy Szechwan chicken (I had seconds of this!), several varieties of noodle soup, sashimi, and all other kinds of strange stuff. It was very cool and quite good.
Attached is a pic of Kathy with a few interesting items on her plate. She really liked the noodle soup.
