So, as we were riding to the Great Wall this morning, we noticed something that you simply do not see very often in the States… truck after truck full of pigs, ducks, and lambs being carted off to the market and to eventually to kitchens. I know we eat just as much of this stuff in the U.S. but you simply don't see it being transported out in the open like this and with the animals still very much alive. The funny thing was, I never could seem to get my camera to work right and get a picture of it – we tended to pass the live animal trucks too fast. I finally got a few shots of one pig truck that we passed slowly.
Another interesting thing happened on the bus ride to the Wall. Prof Chafe's wife, Lorna, told everyone that I am writing a blog about the trip. Wow, you cannot imagine the reaction I got from the entire group! People were so excited and eager for me to give them the web address so they could tell their families and friends back home about it. I was flattered at all their interest and that they all seemed to think I might have something interesting to say about their experience over here. Like I have said several times, this is just a great group of people and we all get along fabulously.
So, this blog is officially going viral! To all my new readers… WELCOME!
